Adjustable

This shower rod is adjustable and fits any size shower opening from 44 to 72 inches. (In feet it is adjustable from 3 feet 8 inches to 6 feet wide. Or 1.13 to 1.83 meters.) Since this rod is adjustable it is in two pieces. One side of the rod, which is a slightly smaller diameter, inserts into the other side.

There is a plastic connecter sleeve that fits into the larger side to make them fit snug and not slip. The front edge of this sleeve has an angle on it that allows the shower curtain rings to move more smoothly, and not get hung up on the connection of the two rod pieces.

Long-Lasting

This is a strong rod that will last a long time in your bathroom, and never rust. It requires some installation, as do all mounted curved rods. Overall, this is a very good product at its price-point. With the rod extended to it’s furthest length of 72 inches, you will gain approximately 11 inches of space in your shower stall. It comes in three finishes: Chrome, Satin Nickel, and Heritage Bronze.

Known for style and luxury, Moen’s Adjustable Curved Shower Rod is a top choice. It is adjustable for enclosures from 60 to 72″ inches. (In feet it fits from 5 foot to 6 foot wide openings. In metric that is 1.5 to 1.83 meters.)

No cutting of the rod is required. It is possible, however, to cut the rod to length and fit somewhat smaller tub or shower openings.

Moen Products are known for being well-made and durable. This rod is made of  type 304 Stainless Steel. While not a “rust free” material, Stainless Steel is very good at not corroding.

You can view all of the details about this shower rod in the manufacturer’s Technical Specification Sheet. It also lists the materials of the other components.

At its full length of 72 inches, this rod gives 7 1/16 inches (188mm) of additional room in the shower space. At it’s shortest length of 60 inches, the additional space is a little over 5 1/14 inches (132mm).

This may not sound like a lot, but when seen or calculated across the entire length of the opening, it really is a large amount of added room and elbow space.

The  construction and design of this product is excellent and will provide years of worry free use. It is very attractive and has what the manufacturer describes as a “Fashion Forward” look. While the Stainless Steel construction is not “rust free”, Moen lists it as “corrosion resistant” and it does come with a limited lifetime warranty.

The PrettyHome Adjustable Curved Shower Curtain Rod is a very attractive item. It comes in towards the lower end of the price range and has a very nice look to it.

This rod adjusts to fit openings from 38 inches to 72 inches. (That works out to 3 feet 2 inches up to 6 feet. Or 0.97 to 1.83 meters.) That means that this rod will fit a smaller tub or shower opening than most of the rest without haveing to cut it to length. At its longest extension this rod adds 9 inches of extra space to you shower area.

This one is pretty easy to install, and the manufacturer states that it only takes 15 minutes to complete. From looking at the components I would say that is do-able. Although it might take most of us a lot longer than that.

Easy To Install

Part of the ease of installation comes from the design of the mounting brackets. The bracket itself mounts directly to the wall, and then the rotating piece that the rod slips into screws directy to the bracket.

Some designs have a plate that mounts to the wall and then the mounting bracket snaps or screws onto that plate mounted to the wall. This design seems to simplify that process.

Plus it’s one less thing to mount, mis-align, rust, break, or whatever. Simpler most times is better.

Materials And Colors

This product is made from aluminum, which is a “rust Free” material. So rusting won’t be a problem with this one. And the mounting components are made of aluminum as well. So there are no plastic parts. The PrettyHome Adjustable Curved Shower Rod comes in five color choices, including white!

I could not locate any specific information online about the PrettyHome brand. And there is no warranty or guarantee information provided online. But this item gets consistently hich ratings from verified users as far as the ease of installing and the quality and durability of the product.

The Premier Adjustable Curved Shower Rod is made from Aluminum which makes the rod, and the mounting brackets, rust-proof. This is verified by several users who have posted online that they have had it over a number of years and have not experienced any rust.

This is probably the simplest curved rod in the bunch. It has a very sparse, almost unfinished look to it. The manufacturer even describes it as “Exposed Mount”. So there are no decorative covers over the mounting brackets.

A Different Look

Depending on your application this non-finished, almost industrial look might be something you should consider. In certain circumstances it can be a very cool look.

If you’re looking for something a little different, this curtain rod might be for you. If your bathroon decor is a bit out of the orfinary, or if you just want to add a touch of contrast to your regular look and feel, the almost unfinished and unadorned attitude of this rod may be just what you need to add a twist.

It is towards the higher end of the price range included here, but it is solidly built and worth the price.

This is another well-made, distinctive looking shower rod. The second one in our line-up made from Stainless Steel, rather than aluminum. It has a very distinctive, strong look to it partly because of what looks like a matte black finish.

Fits Smallest Space

One of the reasons for its inclusion here is that it is the shortest curved adjustable rod that I found. Capable of fitting a smaller tub or shower opening than the others, it adjusts from 35 inches up to 67 inches. (That is 3 feet 11 inches to 5 feet 4 inches. Or 0.91 to 1.65 meters.)

Something Different

There is an unadorned, open sort of look about this one as well. The mounting brackets, where the rod connects to them, do not have decorative covers. It’s not an industrial look because the brackets are attractively designed and well finished. But it does give it a certain vibe. As much as a shower curtain rod can have a vibe, I suppose. But it’s the small things that can help make the look and feel of a whole room, as well as tie it all together. So yeah, it’s a thing.

Easiest To Install?

This rod has quite a good case for it being the easiest to install. And a lot of people online agree. The manufacturer calls it the “Five_Step Installation”:

Now, depending upon your application, there’s a good possibility it could be that easy for you. And you could be done. But let’s realize that there are some steps that you always want to take your time with and do right. Namely, measuring. As well as drilling. It is essential, with any project, that you measure correctly.

How Much Space?

At it’s longest extention this rod adds up to 9 inches of extra room in your shower space! One thing to keep in mind if you are purchasing this rod because it fits a smaller opening. Curved rods don’t add as much space when they are adjusted to their shorter lengths.

This rod only comes in one finish color: black. So that might be a limitation for some applications.

Things To Consider When Installing A Curved Shower Curtain Rod

There are several things to think about before beginning this process. This is what you will need to install a curved shower rod. It is not an extremely difficult job, but like anything else it should be done correctly. Taking a little bit of time to plan and install it correctly will yield results that will last you a long time.

1. MEASURING: In my estimation this is the most important step. Be patient and take as much care as possible to get good measurements. If you don’t measure correctly none of the other steps will matter because your new shower rod will not fit. Most installation instructions will come with some measuring guidance. 2. TOOLS: Be sure that you have the correct tools for the job. At a minimum you will need a screwdriver (best to have a flat and phillips both), a level, a drill (preferably cordless), pliers, measuring tape, a pencil, and some paper. You may not need a couple of these, but it’s best to be prepared. You may also want have on hand an awl and a hammer. Again, please see my Installation Guide.
3. CHOOSE THE CORRECT FINISH: This may be more or less important depending upon whether you are just installing the new rod, or if you are completely re-modelling the bathroom. In this second case you will need to choose a rod with the finish and look that will compliment your new room. When ordering online be very sure to choose the correct finish or color from the options available.
4. NEW ACCESSORIES: A curved shower rod will sometimes require you to also install a new shower curtain and liner. Because of the curve in the rod the curtain will be pulled out a few inches and your current one may not be quite long enough. Also, the new curtain rod may be installed a bit higher. You do not need a special shower curtain with a curved shower curtain rod. But depending on your installation you might need one that is longer than the one you have. You might want to consider some new shower curtain rings as well. With a single curved shower rod a double shower curtain hook works well for both the curtain and the liner. And gliding shower curtain rings will help not to scratch the surface of your new shower curtain rod.

I’m not trying to convince anyone they need to buy new accessories in addition to the curved shower rod. My purpose is to let you know that often times, due to the nature of the curved rod and the individual application, you may need to purchase a couple extra things. And if you’re informed about it up front you’ll be better prepared and can factor it into your budget. And consider the extra time involved in getting these items. If your current shower curtain and liner don’t work with your new rod, you might be with out a shower for a couple days!
